Day-by-Day Cycling Holiday Itinerary


Day 1: Arrival in Copenhagen. Sundays from Koge

Feel free to explore the town on your own initiative. All points of interest are easily reached by bike, foot, or bus. It is definitely worthwhile to book an extended stay at the beginning or end of your tour. Overnight stay in Copenhagen.

Day 2: Copenhagen – Køge, app. 43-56 km

Cycle south along the beaches of Copenhagen and continue on the Berlin-Copenhagen Cycle Route to the small town of Køge. A beautiful medival market square and Denmarks oldest court house await you there. Enjoy the nearby white sand beach and take time for daydreaming or a refreshing swim. Overnight stay in Køge.

Day 3: Køge – Næstved, app. 61 km

Today’s stretch takes you through Zealands green South to one of the islands oldest towns on the West coast, Næstved. Take an excursion to the castle of Gavnø. There are over ½ million bulbs, a rose garden, and many rare plants and trees on the castle grounds. You may want to visit the theme park, Bonbon Land or the glass factory nearby. Overnight stay in Næstved.

Day 4: Næstved – Korsør, app. 65 km

Cycle northwest through the Great Belt where everyone is in a great holiday mood. Swimming areas, restaurants, and cafés characterise the surroundings. Karesbaekstorp is filled with art galleries. Before continuing to Korsør, enjoying some freshly smoked fish in the smokehouse is a must. Overnight stay in Korsør.

Day 5: Korsør – Sorø / Ringsted , app. 50-57 km

West side from Slegelse will you reach old viking castle Trelleborg, one of the best rebuilt castles of the Viking period in Denmark. A mighty ring wall (10. Century .)can be visited. You continue cycling passing lake Tissø. The lake is well known as a natural refuge for birds. Your destination today is Ringsted.
Overnight stay in Ringsted or Sorø.

Day 6: Sorø / Ringsted – Roskilde, app. 45-70 km

Today‘s ride will bring you back to coast to see fjord of Roskilde. First you pass Iselfjord before you arrive at fjord of Roskilde. Cathedral of Roskilde is the place there most of Denmark’s kings and dynasties have their grave. Follow the footstep of wikings at the harbour. Rebuilt wiking ships will impress you. Overnight stay in Roskilde.

Day 7: Roskilde – Copenhagen, app. 44 km

Today’s stretch, the last stretch of your tour, is a little shorter and takes you back to the capital. Spend the afternoon in a quaint café or visit the Tivoli Gardens. Turn in your rental bike and enjoy your evening. Overnight stay in Copenhagen.

Day 8: Departure Copenhagen

Travellers are responsible for their transportation homeward. Depart after breakfast, unless you have booked an extended stay.
