Classic bicycle tour from the ‘Metropolitan Elbe City’ Hamburg to Copenhagen. Enjoy the UNESCO-world heritage and hanseatic town Lübeck, lively sea side resorts, beaches, take a ferry from Rostock to the white cliffs of Møn Island, and cycle along the coast to Copenhagen.
The approximate difficulty level for this tour
Day 1: Arrival in Hamburg
Travellers are responsible for their own transportation to Hamburg. You can enjoy the Elbe City during a Harbour cruise (not included) or visit the Miniaturwunderland.
Overnight stay in Hamburg
Day 2: Hamburg – Lübeck, app. 49-77 km
From the hanseatic town Hamburg you cycle along an old train trail till Sülfeld. You follow quiet and lovely paths till Bad Oldesloe ca. 49 km. You can now take the train to reach Lübeck (not incl.) or cycle through the Trave valley app. 77 km. Overnight stay in Lübeck.
Day 3: Lübeck – Boltenhagen, app. 29-49 km
You leave Lübeck towards Travemünde with the train (not incl.) or per bike. You take the ferry to Priwall (not incl.) and cycle along the coast till Boltenhagen. Overnight in Boltenhagen.
Day 4: Boltenhagen – Rerik/Kühlungsborn/env., app. 40 – 60 km
From Boltenhagen you pass Wismars old town, that suffered minor damage during WWII. A stroll through town would be worth your while. Cycle through the landscape called the Kühlung, formed in the last glacial period. Spend the night in Rerik or Kühlungsborn or in the surrounding.
Day 5: Rerik/Kühlungsborn/env. – Warnemünde/Rostock, app. 30-45 km
Your destination today is Rostock. Cycle along the coast. If you like, you can take the train called Molli to Bad Doberan, through backcountry and cycle on from there to Warnemünde/Rostock, if your overnight stay is there.
Day 6: Rostock – Nykøbing/Falster, app. 40 km
In the morning you will cycle to the ferry harbor in order to board your ferry to Gedser. After approximately 2 hours you will arrive in Denmark enjoying dikes and forests along your way to Falster’s beautiful beach. Overnight stay in Nykøbing.
Day 7: Nykøbing/Falster – Naestved, app. 58 – 78 km
You will cycle along the Guldborgsund to the Zealand. Naestved is one of the oldest towns of Denmark. Overnight stay in Naestved.
Day 8: Naestved – Køge, app. 61 km
You cycle trough the green south of Zealand towards the east coast. Overnight stay in Køge.
Day 9: Køge – Copenhagen, ca. 43-55 km
Today’s leg of the tour leads you along the beaches. You may like to visit the Museum for Modern Art in Ishøj. Copenhagen is enchanting. A visit to the Tivoli Gardens is a must and a stroll around the old harbor is a great way to crown your day. Overnight stay in Copenhagen.
Day 10: Departure from Copenhagen
Depart after breakfast. Travellers are responsible for their homeward transportation.

Through gently undulating landscape, you reach the east coast of Zealand and pass relaxed beach resorts before you reach the bicycle city of Copenhagen.
