Day-by-Day Cycling Holiday Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Santander.

Arrival to Santander and enjoy its beach and its Belle Epoque´s elegance.

Day 2: Santander – Santillana del Mar. 52km / Climb: 893m

Cycle following the coast West to the pretty little medieval town of Santillana to enjoy its perfectly preserved cobbled streets and stone buildings.

Day 3: Santillana – San Vicente de la Barquera. 32km / Climb: 528m

Cycle along small roads , stopping for coffee at the pretty town of Comillas reach the traditional fishing town of San Vicente de la Barquera.

Day 4: San Vicente – Llanes. 48km / Climb: 880m

The sandy beaches continue along our cycle westwards as we leave Cantabria and enter the region of Asturias. We will finish the day in Llanes: another traditional fishing port.

Day 5: Llanes – Ribadesella. 38km / Climb: 556m

A succession of quaint seaside towns with wonderful sandy beaches continue as we cycle on until our destination today: Ribadesella.

Day 6: Ribadesella – Villaviciosa. 45km / Climb: 618m

One more pleasant cycle will take us to Villaviciosa passing through an important wetland area of special protection for birds.

Day 7: Villaviciosa – Gijon. 43km / Climb: 618m

One last day cycling close to the coast with more chances to swim in secluded sandy beaches will take us to Gijon.

Day 8: Departure or extra nights.

How do I get to the Starting Point? Buses every half an hour take 15 minutes to reach the Santander city center.

How do I get back home? Fly from Asturias Airport (45min bus transfer or 30 min private taxi transfer) or Santander Airport (3 hr bus transfer from Gijón).

Puncture resistant hybrid tyres ideal for road cycling but with some tread to give you the security you need on dirt track sections, 21 or 24 gears, comfortable seat, front suspension, adjustable handle bars, bike stand, mudguards, bottle holder as standard.
